Death & Legacy
Thomas Cranmer, the first Protestant archbishop of Canterbury (1533–56), adviser to the English kings Henry VIII and Edward VI, was a leader of the English Reformation. He is known for his significant role in the English Reformation and for his authorship of the Book of Common Prayer. He was burned at the stake for heresy in 1556.
