Dylan Thomas, the Welsh poet whose work was recognized for its lyrical quality and innovative form, died in New York City on November 9, 1953, at the age of 39. His death was attributed to pneumonia, swelling of the brain and a fatty liver, due to his heavy drinking. Despite his short life and personal issues, Thomas left a significant literary legacy, including his famous poem "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night".
