Reinhard Heydrich, one of the main architects of the Holocaust, died from injuries sustained in an assassination attempt by Czechoslovakian resistance fighters. Heydrich was a high-ranking German Nazi official during World War II, and one of the main architects of the Holocaust, in which six million Jews were murdered by the German state. His death led to a wave of reprisals, including the destruction of the villages of Lidice and Ležáky.
