Marcel Petiot, the French doctor who was convicted of murdering 27 people in a case that fascinated the country in the years after World War II, died on Feb. 25, 1946. He was 49. His death, by guillotine in the courtyard of the Prison de la Santé in Paris, was reported in the French press at the time, but his obituary in The New York Times was delayed for technical reasons.
