Jackie Robinson, who made history in 1947 by becoming the first black baseball player in the Major Leagues, died yesterday of a heart attack at his home in Stamford, Conn. He was 53 years old. Mr. Robinson's impact on Major League Baseball was profound. He not only paved the way for other black players, but also led the Brooklyn Dodgers to six pennants in his 10 seasons.
