Harry Houdini

Harry Houdini, the handcuff king and prison breaker, whose miraculous escapes from water-tight chests, nailed packing cases, riveted boilers, and sealed cans filled with water, and from the locked cells of practically every jail in the world, thrilled and mystified millions of persons in all parts of the globe, died yesterday at the Detroit, Michigan, hospital of peritonitis resulting from a ruptured appendix.
