Adolf Eichmann, the Gestapo officer who was chiefly responsible for the extermination of six million Jews by the Nazis in World War II, was hanged early today. The execution, the first under Israel's law for the punishment of Nazis and Nazi collaborators, was carried out at Ramleh prison shortly after midnight.
