Donald Campbell

Gordon Rattray Taylor, who has died aged 80, was one of the most original and creative science writers of his generation. He was also a pioneer of science on television, and a prolific author, with more than 30 books to his name. His work, which covered a vast range of subjects, was characterised by its accessibility, its foresight and its willingness to challenge accepted ideas.
