Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel, the legendary French designer who popularized fashion trends and created the concept of “chic” with her strikingly simple suits, little black dresses and outrageous casual wear, died Saturday night in Paris at the age of 87. Miss Chanel, who had been active until the end, was one of the most influential designers in the history of fashion. With her menswear-inspired designs, she helped liberate women from the corseted silhouette and promoted a sporty, casual chic.
