Cliff Burton

Cliff Burton, the bassist for the heavy-metal rock band Metallica, was killed in a bus crash early yesterday morning in southern Sweden, according to a spokeswoman for the band's management company. Mr. Burton, who was 24 years old, was thrown through a window of the bus and crushed when it flipped over on top of him, the spokeswoman said.
