Schulz, whose ''Peanuts'' comic strip and its poignant, lovable characters like Charlie Brown and Snoopy won the hearts of millions of people around the world and made him one of the most recognized and wealthiest artists in the history of the medium, died in his sleep on Saturday night at his home in Santa Rosa, Calif. He was 77.
