Charles Bukowski, the laureate of American lowlife, died Wednesday in San Pedro Peninsula Hospital of leukemia. He was 73. Bukowski, who had been in and out of hospitals for the last two years, died at 6:45 p.m., said his publisher, John Martin of Black Sparrow Press.
